Get started playing soccer

Every fall, families from Pasadena, Altadena, La Canada, and nearby put on a soccer league for kids.

  • Parents take classes to learn to coach and referee.
  • Anyone can join; everyone plays, and what matters most are positive coaching and good sportsmanship.
  • It’s all about having fun being part of a team.
  • As you get better, it gets more challenging.

The fall soccer league includes age-appropriate competitions for kids aged 3 – 18, and EPIC for people with special needs of all ages.

Want to learn more? Here’s how AYSO works

There are AYSO leagues all over Southern California. Here’s a map to find the one near you.

Prices

Everyone plays in AYSO Region 13. If the cost is an obstacle, pay what you can.

Your registration fee includes a uniform, and there are no referee or other fees. You will need your own soccer ball, shinguards, and water bottle. Soccer cleats are optional, and there will be a free used shoe exchange in August.

Region 13 wants everyone to play, so the league fee is pay-what-you-can on the honor policy, thanks to donations from those families who can afford to pay a little more than the suggested amount. You will be able to change the price at checkout. If you need additional assistance, please write to registrar@ayso13.org.

Volunteering

Coaching a kids’ soccer team is one of the great joys in life. Learn more about what’s involved.

AYSO is really a community development program, that happens to play soccer.

I had a great time coaching the kids, the kids had a great time and learned a lot about soccer, and the parents were all very engaged and appreciative. All in all, coaching was a great experience that I’m excited to continue doing with both of my daughters!
