Game Cards

The referee team uses a game card (one for each team) at each game to facilitate scorekeeping, monitoring of playing time, and sportsmanship behavior in the 10U and up divisions.

Coaches are responsible for bringing the correct Game Card to each game, prefilled with their team’s information, such as the team name, coaches’ names, and roster.

Ideal Game Card Instructions

Coaches: You should hand the Referee a card filled in with all of the info known prior to the game, as shown in the image below on the left. The team information at the top can be pre-printed from your Team Google Sheet, or you can handwrite it, completely and legibly. Fill in the game location, date, time, and home/away, along with the team codes in the score box. The players should be in jersey number order, with first and last names listed. Be like the coach on the left!

Referees: After the game, your card should look like the one on the left below. Each quarter should have the same number of benched players and one goalkeeper noted. If an injury occurs, write an “I” for the injured player and circle whoever replaced them. The card on the right has subs marked in the wrong place and is missing score information. Also, please make sure the scores use the team numbers (e.g., G12U20), not their names or colors.

On the back of the card, please ensure that all information is completed, including the two boxes at the top. The sporting behavior section is critical, so be sure to fill that out. If you encounter any issues, please grade them as ‘Some’ or ‘Rarely’, depending on their severity, and provide comments about what went wrong.

To ensure you receive referee credit for your hard work, please write your full name legibly and include your team’s number (not the team name, coach’s name, or color). If you signed up for the game through InLeague, the code should be A. If you were recruited on the field, the code should be C. Otherwise, D is for club linesmen.
