Instructions to Register for Fall 2017 — AYSO Region 13 Soccer

Welcome to Registration for Fall 2017!

Please read the following instructions carefully.

There are TWO REQUIRED STEPS to enroll your child in the Fall 2017 soccer season:

  • Prepare your registration paperwork online using Blue Sombrero.
  • Visit the AYSO Region 13 clubhouse for in-person enrollment.

STEP 1 – ONLINE REGISTRATION PAPERWORK

  • To save time during Step 2 (In-Person Enrollment), you’ll want to prepare your player application online.  If you are returning to AYSO from last year, you’ll notice we have a new registration portal called “Blue Sombrero.”  This replaces the old eAYSO.
  • Using your web browser, visit our Blue Sombrero registration portal by entering the following web address into your browser: https://ayso.bluesombrero.com/region13
  • Click the “Register Now” button, and follow instructions to create an online account.
  • After creating your account, return to the registration portal home page and click on the “My Account” button (top right). On the next page, click the red “Register Now!” button, and add your children as new Participant(s).
  • Follow the prompts to fill out registration forms for each child. Make sure to follow registration all the way to the end – including electronically signing the form and submitting it.
  • Pay the balance with a credit or debit card. If you cannot pay with credit or debit card, you can pay during in-person enrollment. (Please note that cash and check may require an additional processing fee.)
  • To save time during in-person enrollment, please print your children’s registration formand bring them with you.

2017 Registration Fees

  • Player fees for the Fall core program are $195.
  • For the EXTRA program, additional fees will be due upon admission ($575 on top of the Fall core program fee).
  • Some players may be wait-listed after July 1 (with no guarantee of placement onto a team).  If we are not able to assign a wait-listed player to a team, we will issue a refund for all fees paid (except the AYSO National Membership fee).  Cancellations by players themselves will be subject to the Refund Policy below.
  • Please pay with credit card or debit card whenever possible.  Cash and check payments may incur additional processing fees.

Refund Policy

  • Refunds will be available through August 1, 2017 for up to 80% of the amount paid during registration.

EXTRA Program

  • The EXTRA program is a tryout-based Fall soccer program that gives selected players an opportunity to play soccer at a significantly more competitive level.
  • Soccer players who are hoping for admission to the EXTRA program should register as ordinary participants in the regular Fall season.
  • The EXTRA program carries with it additional fees of $575 in addition to Fall enrollment fees.  If invited to join an EXTRA team, players will have the choice between joining a regular Fall team (in a concurrent enrollment) or crediting their Fall fees toward admission into the EXTRA program.

AYSO Age Determination

In 2017, AYSO decided to follow the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) new guidelines for the construction of age divisions in soccer. Players will now be assigned to divisions as shown in the table below.

For parents who are familiar with the old “school year” method of age determination, the change to “birth year” will have the effect of making all age divisions roughly five months younger than they previously were. Players born after July will experience the most notable difference because they will appear to “skip ahead” by one division in alignment with the new Age Guide. For example, a player born August 1, 2009 would have gone into the “U8” division under the old (school year) system. But in Fall 2017, someone born Aug 1, 2009 will now be “9U”, which means he/she will play in the “10U” division in the above table. In sum, players born after July in any year will “bump up” to the next age bracket, pulling down the median age for the entire division.

For more information on this change, please see the Age Guide at AYSO.org.
