In light of our ongoing efforts to best navigate the way to offer training to our volunteers this year with the COVID-19 Delta variant surge, Region 13 has decided not to offer 8U classes in person and is cancelling the classes we have scheduled.
To certify as a referee for 8U and younger games in Region 13 will be a two-step process:
- Take the online course “8U Official Course.” To do this, go to AYSOU.org, click on “Online Courses” in the red band at the top; click “open” next to “Refereeing Courses” and then click the “Open” button for “8U Official Course.”
- Attend a one-hour mandatory meeting via Zoom, which will be offered multiple times. Please see the Region 13 calendar for specific dates and times: so far we have sessions scheduled for the evenings of Sep 9, Sep 14, and Sep 17.
Information about uniform pick-up will come later—don’t forget to also do Safe Haven, Concussion Awareness, and Sudden Cardiac Arrest modules—they are also in AYSOU.org under Online Courses in the Safe Haven tab. (Note that PRO/youth Referees do not take the Safe Haven class, but they should take the Concussion Awareness and Sudden Cardiac Arrest modules.)
Thanks again for volunteering. It’s a challenging time for all of us, and we appreciate your dedication to the kids or our Region. If you have any questions at all about training, please contact one of your volunteer referee staff:
