New and experienced coaches alike often ask, “Now that I have volunteered to be a coach, what courses are available to me and which courses are required to coach at my level?” The table below provides an overview of the available AYSO coaching courses. Click here for the current schedule of courses offered by Region 13. Additionally, courses are always announced on the Region 13 Home Page. Log in to your account at eAYSO.org to sign up for all courses. A summary of the mandatory coach training requirements follows.
Mandatory Coach Training Requirements Are as Follows:
A. Safe Haven For Coaches: Mandatory for all coaches and assistant coaches in all age groups and divisions. No exceptions. Must be taken once (but only once).
B. U6/U8 Coach Training Course: Mandatory for all coaches and assistant coaches in the U6 & U8 divisions, regardless of what, or how many, other AYSO or non-AYSO coaching courses a coach may have taken or licenses a coach may have obtained (i.e., it doesn’t matter if you are already have an AYSO “Advanced” Coaching Certificate and/or a club coaching license). Must be taken once, but only once.
C. U10 Coach Training Course: Mandatory for all coaches and assistant coaches in U10, regardless of what, or how many, other AYSO or non-AYSO coaching courses a coach may have taken or licenses a coach may have obtained (i.e., it doesn’t matter if you are already have an AYSO “Advanced” Coaching Certificate and/or a club coaching license). Must be taken once, but only once.
These Courses are required both to protect the kids we serve and to protect the coaches and assistant coaches as volunteers. The Region 13 Executive Board has unanimously passed a resolution stating that any Coach or Assistant Coach who does not fulfill the appropriate requirements by mid-September 2016 will NOT be allowed to coach this fall season, and will not be allowed to coach at anytime thereafter until he/she has fulfilled the mandatory requirements.
In order to fulfill the mandatory requirements, ALL Coaches and Assistant Coaches must be listed as having taken the appropriate Courses in the database supplied to the Region by AYSO National. If a Coach is not listed, he or she is not eligible to coach or assist. ALL Coaches should make sure that both they and their Assistants are listed and eligible to Coach. If a Coach is not sure whether he/she and/or his/her Assistant(s) are listed and eligible, he/she should contact the Regional Coach Administrator.
