If that should occur, the coach must immediately leave the vicinity of the field and stay out of sight and sound. The coach must also stay away from the team's next game.

May I submit an application without a referee team?

Although we will accept applications form teams without referees, we give priority to those that submit referee teams with their applications. We do this because of the need for sufficient qualified referees to make our tournament a success. Those that do not submit a referee team with their applications will be placed on a waiting list, and accepted if we do not get sufficient applications from teams with referees.

How are teams seeded into brackets for the Spring Break Tournament?

The SBT, being a two-day tournament, is limited to four games per team. The usual scheme is to have either four or eight teams in a division, or in a flight if a division has more than eight teams. In all cases the divisions or flights are grouped into four-team pools. The first three games are pool play, round robin. After pool play has been completed on Saturday morning, the teams are seeded into brackets. The seeding process depends on how many teams are in the division or flight.

FOUR teams:
1) The teams are ranked by point total, using tiebreaker procedures if necessary.
2) The teams are given letters A through D corresponding to first through fourth place.
3) Teams A (home) and B play for the championship. Teams C (home) and D play for 3rd and 4th place.

EIGHT teams:
1) The teams in each pool are ranked by point total, using tiebreaker procedures if necessary.
2) The first place team with more points becomes team A, and the other first place team becomes team B. These two teams play for the championship, with team A being the home team.
3) The second place team with more points becomes team C, and the other second place team is D. They play for 3rd and 4th place, with team C being the home team.
4) Teams finishing in third or fourth place in their pool do not play a fourth game.

How are teams seeded into brackets for the Myles Standish Tournament?

The MST is a three-day tournament; all teams play two games on Friday, two on Saturday and one on Sunday. The seeding process depends on the number of teams in a division (or in a flight). Allowable numbers are 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 16. The scheme for each is described below.

FOUR teams:
1) Each team plays three games, round robin. After the third game (Saturday morning), the teams are ranked by points, using tiebreakers if necessary. The first place team becomes team A, the second place team B, the third place team C, and the fourth place team D.
2) The semifinal games on Saturday afternoon are A (home) vs D and B (home) vs C.
3) The championship game on Sunday is the winner of A vs D (home) vs the winner of B vs C. The loser of B vs C (home) plays the loser of A vs D for 3rd and 4th place.

FIVE teams:
1) The teams play four pool games, round robin. After the last pool game (Saturday afternoon), the teams are ranked by point total, using tiebreaker rules if necessary. The first place team becomes team A, and so forth down to team E.
2) Team A (home) plays B on Sunday for the championship. Team C (home) plays D for 3rd and 4th place. Team E does not have a fifth game.

SIX teams:
The teams play a 5-game round robin, after which they are ranked by point total. There is no bracket play: the winner of the round robin is the champion.

EIGHT teams:
1) The teams are divided into two pools of four teams for pool play, three games round robin. At the conclusion of pool play (Saturday morning), the teams in each pool are ranked according to point total, using tiebreaker rules if necessary.
2) The first place team with more points becomes team A, and the other first place team is B. The second place team from A's pool is C, and the second place team from B's pool is D. This ensures that the semifinal games involve teams from different pools. Teams A through D comprise bracket 1 and play for the championship.
3) The third place team with more points becomes team E, and the other third place team becomes F. The fourth place team from E's pool is G, and the fourth place team from F's pool is H. Teams E through H comprise bracket 2 and play for 5th through 8th place.
4) Semifinal bracket games (Saturday afternoon) are A vs D, B vs C, E vs H and F vs G, with the home team listed first.
5) Final bracket games (Sunday) are the winner of A vs D (home) against the winner of B vs C for the championship;
the loser of B vs C (home) against the loser of A vs D for 3rd and 4th place;
the winner of E vs H (home) against the winner of F vs G for 5th and 6th place;
and the loser of F vs G (home) against the loser of E vs H for 7th and 8th place.

TEN teams:
1) The teams are divided into two pools of five teams for pool play, four games round robin. At the conclusion of pool play (Saturday afternoon), the teams in each pool are ranked according to point total, using tiebreaker rules if necessary.
2) The first place team with more points becomes team A, and the other first place team is B. The second place team with more points becomes team C, and the other second place team becomes D, and so forth down to I and J.
3) Team A (home) plays team B for the championship on Sunday. Team C (home) plays D for 3rd and 4th place. Team E (home) plays F for 5th and 6th place. Team G (home) plays H for 7th and 8th place. Team I (home) plays J for 9th and 10th place.

TWELVE teams:
1) The teams are divided into three pools of four teams for pool play, three games round robin. At the conclusion of pool play (Saturday morning), the teams in each pool are ranked according to point total, using tiebreaker rules if necessary.
2) The three pool winners and the second place team with most points become teams A through D. They comprise bracket 1 and play for the championship. Team A is the pool winner with the most points, and team B is the pool winner with the second most points. Normally team C is the third best pool winner and team D is the "wild card" second place team, but if this scheme would produce a semifinal game between two teams from the same pool (either A vs D or B vs C), then SWITCH C AND D to prevent this from happening.
3) The other two second place teams become E and F, and the top two third place teams become G and H. These teams form bracket 2 and play for 5th through 8th places. As above, if the normal assignment would produce a semifinal game between teams from the same pool (either E vs H or F vs G), then SWITCH G AND H.
4) The worst third place team becomes team I. The three fourth place teams are J, K and L, ranked by points. These four teams comprise bracket 3 and play for 9th through 12th place. As above, if the normal assignment would produce a semifinal game between teams from the same pool (either I vs L or J vs K), then SWITCH K AND L.
5) The bracket semifinals on Saturday afternoon are A vs D, B vs C, E vs H, F vs G, I vs L and J vs K, with the home team listed first.
6) The bracket finals on Sunday are winner vs winner for the top two places in the bracket, and loser vs loser for the bottom two places. Teams A, D, E, H, I and L are the home team if they won on Saturday afternoon, the away team if they lost. Teams B, C, F, G, J and K are the away team if they won on Saturday afternoon, the home team if they won.

SIXTEEN teams:
1) The teams are divided into four pools of four teams for pool play, three games round robin. At the conclusion of pool play (Saturday morning), the teams in each pool are ranked according to point total, using tiebreaker rules if necessary.
2) The four first place teams become teams A through D. The team with the most points is team A, the next best team is team B, and so forth. These four teams form bracket 1 and play for the championship.
3) The four second place teams become teams E through H similarly. They comprise bracket 2 and play for 5th through 8th place. Likewise, the four third place teams become I through L, bracket 3, playing for 9th through 12th place, and the four fourth place teams become M through P, bracket 4, playing for 13th through 16th place.
4) The bracket semifinal games on Saturday afternoon are A vs D, B vs C, E vs H, F vs G, I vs L, J vs K, M vs P and N vs O, with the home team listed first.
5) The bracket finals on Sunday are winner vs winner for the top two places in the bracket, and loser vs loser for the bottom two places. Teams A, D, E, H, I, L, M and P are the home team if they won on Saturday afternoon, the away team if they lost. Teams B, C, F, G, J, K, N and O are the away team if they won on Saturday afternoon, the home team if they won.
